Nuns on a sightseeing tour in Salzburg, Austria

Sightseeing tours in Salzburg are popular not only with Japanese or American tourists, but also with locals - such as this group of nuns. The Catholic heritage of Salzburg is visible in every corner of the city - Salzburg was often called the 'German Rome'. This is of course an exaggeration, but due to the city's history and the wealth of the Prince Archbishops, it clearly was a local branch of Rome for a rather long time. Sightseeing tours of Salzburg should therefore include a trip to some of the city's many Baroque churches.
